Beyond Energy Poverty: Why Words Matter

This Thursday 5/6/2025 we have the pleasure to be hosting Professor Karla Cedano from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, who is going to present us the impressive work they do at UNAM on solar/renewable energy, as well as share with us the highlights of her research in energy poverty. Her lecture will take place at 14:00-15:00 in Lecture Theatre 2, Hudson Beare Building in the King’s Buildings Campus.

Community engagement has been an approach that our research group at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has committed to in a quest to better understand energy poverty. Gradually, we have moved from data driven approaches to more contextual and cultural based ones. This conversation will present our findings, challenges and most importantly the lessons we hope to learn.

I will also take this opportunity to present my institute's work on renewables, specifically focusing on solar energy systems.
